Marine Industry
At nearly $9 billion, the marine industry is one of Broward County’s biggest economic generators. Our local market is internationally known as the boating capital of the world. Recognizing its vital importance to our local economy the City of Dania Beach is undertaking many exciting marine related initiatives that cater primarily to the needs of the recreational boater and the industries that support this market. Deep water canals, working boatyards and marine-related facilities, such as manufacturers, yacht and charter brokers, technical services, marine suppliers and mega-yacht builders call Dania Beach home. Boats and yachts of all sizes make their home or receive repairs in Dania Beach which directly and indirectly employs hundreds of Dania Beach residents. Dania Beach has also taken other steps to support and promote the marine industry including but not limited to increasing public awareness through Chamber of Commerce activities, adopting more marine applicable zoning codes, allowing dock rentals behind homes, dredging the Dania Cut-Off canal, providing public access boat ramps, supporting events such as the Plywood Regatta, Waterway Clean Up and the Marine Flea Market.
I am a strong supporter of governance that benefits and promotes our marine industry. As a member of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida – the leading voice that promotes and protects the sound growth of the marine industry, and also the Marina Mile 84 Association, which consists of local business and community leaders associated with the local marine industry, I will continue to help support the growth and retention of marine-related business in Dania Beach.
